Bench
On August 18, 2022 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany "Bench" peaked.
Bench is the fourth edition of Andrés Gorzycki’s curated open-air-shows near the Main river in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Andrés and I conversed about space in-between. That space which calls to be occupied and where the artist decides to inhabit. In the place filled, I saw a bridge between objects, time, and people. For this edition, the space was intervened to reference the previous three editions of this curatorial project, including Sebastián Garbrecht's Magnet, Alina Perkins's Rope, and Maximiliano Siñani’s Stone. I wheat-pasted an image of the stone bench’s top onto the sign blocking the serene view of the river. When the viewer sits, their view forward is blocked and ties them back to their support and references that came before. To sit and view is to enter a portal of liminal space. The space reflects connection, desiring to be observed in relation to its larger ecology and the blockages stopping it from doing so.
We met at the end of a peninsula in the Gutleutviertel neighborhood of Frankfurt am Main. Some ducks joined the show.
